Experienced videogame players are probably familiar with the sliding block puzzle: A block placed on a slippery floor which, when pushed, will continue along its path until it reaches an obstacle that stops its path. Such puzzles usually concern themselves with creating a new path for the player. Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut from Blue Wizard Digital offers an alternate take on this common puzzle: The blocks being manipulated are victims in a Slasher film, and the player is the Slasher. Only able to move in straight lines and only able to stop when they touch a wall, it is down to the player to murder every victim on a stage (who follow similar rules) and reach a goal while avoiding campfires, pits, treacherous waters, and numerous other hazards. You can watch Andrew (@playcritically) work his way through the first hour of this bloody puzzler below.
