For much of 2017, Switch fans who know where to look have been watching two indie developers race to complete their spiritual successor to the popular Intelligent Systems Advance Wars series which were hits on the GBA and DS, but were MIA for the 3DS. Wargrooved failed to make its Q4 2017 release date, so Area 35’s Tiny Metal won the race by launching midway through December. Updating the graphics and design of Advance Wars and stripping away some of the complications (most notably, unit supplies), does Tiny Metal’s breathless spurt to beat its competition pay off?
